Mannikin

Description

Introduction:

• The mannikin that is used for the purpose of CALS training is the 4^th Generation 3D Generated model.
• Each mannikin is made by a professional mechanical engineer.
• The mannikin is constructed from a new Laerdal Little Anne.

Description:

• The mannikin has a sternotomy incision that is specifically designed for CALS training.
• Under the midline incision, sternal plates are extensively modified.
• The mannikin is supplied with two sternal plates that allows full wiring of the chest and interchange of plates between moulages so a second scenario can be run in quick succession.
• The sternal plate allows opening of sternum using sternal retractor.
• Under the sternal plate is a Heart & Lung Block recreated by 3D computer modelling from an MRI scan of a medisatinum and the Little Anne, and moulded in red Silastine so it is sturdy but elastic to allow internal cardiac massage.
• The Heart & Lung Block is considerably softer and more realistic, and will even take sutures for grafts.
• The Heart is removable for close up demonstration of internal cardiac massage.
• Internal defibrillation can be practiced on the mannikin.
